Procrastinations and Ventings of a Moody Woman

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Currently I'm in my Junior year at Moody Bible Institute in downtown Chicago. I am finishing up my degree in Elementary Education. The program is pretty much the hardest elementary ed program you could imagine, but I love it a lot because it's the only place I know of that you can be a Bible and El Ed major at the same time. We work really hard to that end, but it is very cool to be some of the first people to learn an integrative philosophy of Christian education. I can't wait to start practicing all this; and the countdown is on, because in a little over a year I will be doing full time student teaching.

This was my first week back in Arizona, and my first week student teaching. I am teaching 7th/8th grade language arts at Grace Community Christian School. The students are reading Johnny Tremain and The Bronze Bow. Next week I start teaching instead of only observing.
So far student teaching is pretty boring. I was so bored I asked my teacher to give me work, but then I had to organize things. I hate organizing things, so I think I will at least pretend to busy next week.
I am also working on things for after graduation. I have to send out applications, and am applying for something called "Teach for America." It is an organization modeled after the peace corps that sends out recently graduated college students as teachers to the lowest achieving schools in the nation. I have my final interveiw february 13, and after that I will know whether that will happen and have a better idea of what to pursue next.
I am also getting ready for a couple of weddings I am in that are going to be in March and July. In one wedding I will be wearing the getup of dream barbie and in the other a lovely green number with sleeves. Oh the fashion travesties committed in the name of love!
